Some of the very latest high-tech aids for local people who are blind or visually impaired are available to try at N-Vision, the Blackpool Fylde and Wyre Society for the Blind, on Friday (Jan 11) between 10am and 2pm in our main hall, Sharples Hall, at the centre at Bosworth Place, Squires Gate.
The Assistive Technology exhibition features, among other things, the very latest Synapptic TV Box, which went on sale in November, and other specialist hardware and software from Synapptic along with high specification hand held, portable and even wearable magnifiers from VisionAid and much more. The charity itself has an extensive range of low vision aids, talking clocks, household appliances and technological expertise on site in its own right.
It’s the first major event of the year for the charity and will be held in Sharples Hall. Other exhibitions are planned along with information days, sight loss support and other events. The assistive technology exhibition is organised by Low Vision Worker Brian Casey who has extensive contacts in the field and was the first European to trial eSight eyewear enabling him to see a football match for the first time in 27 years.
